Other Notes

Small volumes of GNMT elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS760276 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing GNMT. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS760276 kit is based on GNMT antibody-GNMT antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect GNMT antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, GNMT. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for GNMT

The protein encoded by this gene is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (along with glycine) to S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine and sarcosine. This protein is found in the cytoplasm and acts as a homotetramer. Defects in this gene are a cause of GNMT deficiency (hypermethioninemia). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Naturally occurring readthrough transcription occurs between the upstream CNPY3 (canopy FGF signaling regulator 3) gene and this gene and is represented with GeneID:107080644. UniProt Comments for GNMT

GNMT: Catalyzes the methylation of glycine by using S- adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) to form N-methylglycine (sarcosine) with the concomitant production of S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy). Possible crucial role in the regulation of tissue concentration of AdoMet and of metabolism of methionine. Defects in GNMT are the cause of glycine N- methyltransferase deficiency (GNMT deficiency); also known as hypermethioninemia. The only clinical abnormalities in patients with this deficiency are mild hepatomegaly and chronic elevation of serum transaminases. Belongs to the class I-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily. Glycine N-methyltransferase family.
