Eosinophil Peroxidase (EPX) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS760340

Background: Eosinophil peroxidase is a secreted hemoprotein that catalyzes oxidations of various substrates by hydrogen peroxide. Together with other leukocyte-derived enzymes, such as Myeloperoxidase,EPX plays an important role in the pathogenesis of asthma… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of EPX elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Searchable Terms for EPX purchase

MBS760340 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Eosinophil peroxidase (EPX) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing EPX. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS760340 kit is based on EPX antibody-EPX antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect EPX antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, EPX. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for EPX

This gene is a member of the peroxidase gene family and is expressed in eosinophils. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed into covalently attached heavy and light chains to form the mature enzyme, which functions as an oxidant. The enzyme is released at sites of parasitic infection or allergen stimulation to mediate lysis of protozoa or parasitic worms. The gene is found in a gene cluster with other peroxidase genes on chromosome 17. Mutations in this gene result in eosinophil peroxidase deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

UniProt Comments for EPX

EPX: Mediates tyrosine nitration of secondary granule proteins in mature resting eosinophils. Shows significant inhibitory activity towards Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv by inducing bacterial fragmentation and lysis. Defects in EPX are the cause of eosinophil peroxidase deficiency (EPD). EPD is an autosomal recessive defect where anomalous eosinophils are characterized by nuclear hypersegmentation, hypogranulation, and negative peroxidase and phospholipid staining. Belongs to the peroxidase family. XPO subfamily.

Protein type: Oxidoreductase; EC 1.11.1.7

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q23.1

Molecular Function: heme binding; metal ion binding; peroxidase activity

Biological Process: defense response to nematode; hydrogen peroxide catabolic process; negative regulation of interleukin-10 production; negative regulation of interleukin-5 production; positive regulation of interleukin-4 production; response to oxidative stress

Disease: Eosinophil Peroxidase Deficiency
