Other Notes

Small volumes of ATF-3 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS761520 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Activating Transcription Factor 3 (ATF-3) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing ATF-3. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS761520 kit is based on ATF-3 antibody-ATF-3 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect ATF-3 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, ATF-3. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for ATF-3

This gene encodes a member of the mammalian activation transcription factor/cAMP responsive element-binding (CREB) protein family of transcription factors. This gene is induced by a variety of signals, including many of those encountered by cancer cells, and is involved in the complex process of cellular stress response. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. It is possible that alternative splicing of this gene may be physiologically important in the regulation of target genes. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2011]

UniProt Comments for ATF-3

ATF-3: This protein binds the cAMP response element (CRE) (consensus: 5'-GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters. Represses transcription from promoters with ATF sites. It may repress transcription by stabilizing the binding of inhibitory cofactors at the promoter. Isoform 2 activates transcription presumably by sequestering inhibitory cofactors away from the promoters. Belongs to the bZIP family. ATF subfamily. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q32.3

Cellular Component: nucleolus; nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; protein heterodimerization activity; protein homodimerization activity; transcription corepressor activity; transcription factor activity
