Other Notes

Small volumes of DHFR elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS762018 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing DHFR. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS762018 kit is based on DHFR antibody-DHFR antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect DHFR antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, DHFR. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for DHFR

key component of purine and pyrmidine biosynthesis pathway; NADPH-dependent molecule reduces dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate [RGD, Feb 2006]

UniProt Comments for DHFR

DHFR: Key enzyme in folate metabolism. Contributes to the de novo mitochondrial thymidylate biosynthesis pathway. Catalyzes an essential reaction for de novo glycine and purine synthesis, and for DNA precursor synthesis. Binds its own mRNA and that of DHFRL1. Defects in DHFR are the cause of megaloblastic anemia due to dihydrofolate reductase deficiency (DHFRD). DHFRD is an inborn error of metabolism, characterized by megaloblastic anemia and/or pancytopenia, severe cerebral folate deficiency, and cerebral tetrahydrobiopterin deficiency. Clinical features include variable neurologic symptoms, ranging from severe developmental delay and generalized seizures in infancy, to childhood absence epilepsy with learning difficulties, to lack of symptoms. Belongs to the dihydrofolate reductase family.

Protein type: EC 1.5.1.3; Oxidoreductase; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - one carbon pool by folate; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - folate biosynthesis

Molecular Function: dihydrofolate reductase activity; dihydrofolic acid binding; drug binding; folic acid binding; methotrexate binding; mRNA binding; NADP binding

Biological Process: axon regeneration; dihydrofolate metabolic process; folic acid metabolic process; glycine biosynthetic process; nucleotide biosynthetic process; one-carbon compound metabolic process; positive regulation of nitric-oxide synthase activity; response to methotrexate; response to nicotine; tetrahydrobiopterin biosynthetic process; tetrahydrofolate biosynthetic process; tetrahydrofolate metabolic process
