Application Notes for anti-REL antibody
WB (1/500 - 1/1000), IH (1/100 - 1/200)

Western Blot (WB) of anti-REL antibody

Western blot analysis of c-Rel expression in K562 (A), Raw264.7 (B), mouse heart (C), rat heart (D), rat brain (E) whole cell lysates.
Rabbit Anti-REL Polyclonal Antibody – Cat# MBS820520

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of anti-REL antibody

Immunohistochemical analysis of c-Rel staining in human breast cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
Rabbit Anti-REL Polyclonal Antibody, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) – Cat# MBS820520

Western Blot (WB) of anti-REL antibody

Western blot analysis of c-Rel expression in A549 (A), Hela (B), CT26 (C), PC12 (D) whole cell lysates.
Rabbit Anti-REL Polyclonal Antibody, Western Blot (WB) – Cat# MBS820520

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-REL antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for REL

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the Rel homology domain/immunoglobulin-like fold, plexin, transcription factor (RHD/IPT) family. Members of this family regulate genes involved in apoptosis, inflammation, the immune response, and oncogenic processes. This proto-oncogene plays a role in the survival and proliferation of B lymphocytes. Mutation or amplification of this gene is associated with B-cell lymphomas, including Hodgkin's lymphoma. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene are associated with susceptibility to ulcerative colitis and rheumatoid arthritis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

UniProt Comments for REL

REL: a proto-oncogenic transcription factor of the nuclear factor-kappaB (NFkB) group. There are five NFkB proteins in mammals (RelA/NFkB-p65, RelB, c-Rel, NF-_B1/NFkB-p105, and NF-_B2/NFkB-p100). They form a variety of homodimers and heterodimers, each of which activates its own characteristic set of genes. May play a role in differentiation and lymphopoiesis.

Protein type: Transcription factor; Oncoprotein

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p13-p12

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; transcription factor complex; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; chromatin binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; positive regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; positive regulation of interleukin-12 biosynthetic process; transcription, DNA-dependent; response to cytokine stimulus; innate immune response; cytokine production; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; inflammatory response
