Western Blot (WB) of anti-SYP antibody

Western blot analysis of Synaptophysin expression in HeLa (A), SP2/0 (B), mouse brain (C), rat brain (D), PC12 (E) whole cell lysates.
Rabbit Anti-SYP Polyclonal Antibody – Cat# MBS822118

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of anti-SYP antibody

Rabbit Anti-SYP Polyclonal Antibody, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) – Cat# MBS822118

Immunofluorescence (IF) of anti-SYP antibody

Immunofluorescent analysis of Synaptophysin staining in HeLa cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 °C in a humidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a DyLight 594-conjugated secondary antibody (red) in PBS at room temperature in the dark. DAPI was used to stain the cell nuclei (blue).

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-SYP antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for SYP

This gene encodes an integral membrane protein of small synaptic vesicles in brain and endocrine cells. The protein also binds cholesterol and is thought to direct targeting of vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 (synaptobrevin) to intracellular compartments. Mutations in this gene are associated with X-linked mental retardation (XLMR). [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

UniProt Comments for SYP

SYP: Possibly involved in structural functions as organizing other membrane components or in targeting the vesicles to the plasma membrane. Involved in the regulation of short-term and long-term synaptic plasticity. Homohexamer or homotetramer. Interacts with SRCIN1. Characteristic of a type of small (30-80 nm) neurosecretory vesicles, including presynaptic vesicles, but also vesicles of various neuroendocrine cells of both neuronal and epithelial phenotype. Belongs to the synaptophysin/synaptobrevin family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Vesicle; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xp11.23-p11.22
