Other Notes

Small volumes of BIRC5 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS824770 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Survivin (BIRC5) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing BIRC5. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS824770 kit is based on BIRC5 antibody-BIRC5 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect BIRC5 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, BIRC5. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for BIRC5

This gene is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) gene family, which encode negative regulatory proteins that prevent apoptotic cell death. IAP family members usually contain multiple baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) domains, but this gene encodes proteins with only a single BIR domain. The encoded proteins also lack a C-terminus RING finger domain. Gene expression is high during fetal development and in most tumors, yet low in adult tissues. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

UniProt Comments for BIRC5

Survivin: an apoptosis inhibitor that is expressed during the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. Associates with the microtubules of the mitotic spindle and any disruption results in the loss of apoptosis activity. May play a role in neoplasia. Inhibitor of caspase-3 and caspase-7. Two splice variant isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q25

Cellular Component: centriole; nuclear chromosome; microtubule; cytoplasmic microtubule; spindle microtubule; cytoplasm; spindle; midbody; cytosol; nucleus; interphase microtubule organizing center; chromosome, pericentric region
