Other Notes

Small volumes of SPARC elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Searchable Terms for SPARC purchase

MBS824873 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the SPARC, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing SPARC. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS824873 kit is based on SPARC antibody-SPARC antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect SPARC antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, SPARC. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for SPARC

This gene encodes a cysteine-rich acidic matrix-associated protein. The encoded protein is required for the collagen in bone to become calcified but is also involved in extracellular matrix synthesis and promotion of changes to cell shape. The gene product has been associated with tumor suppression but has also been correlated with metastasis based on changes to cell shape which can promote tumor cell invasion. UniProt Comments for SPARC

SPARC: Appears to regulate cell growth through interactions with the extracellular matrix and cytokines. Binds calcium and copper, several types of collagen, albumin, thrombospondin, PDGF and cell membranes. There are two calcium binding sites; an acidic domain that binds 5 to 8 Ca(2+) with a low affinity and an EF-hand loop that binds a Ca(2+) ion with a high affinity. Belongs to the SPARC family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31.3-q32

Cellular Component: extracellular space; platelet alpha granule membrane; cell surface; nuclear matrix; mitochondrion; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; extracellular region; basement membrane

Molecular Function: collagen binding; protein binding; extracellular matrix binding; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: response to peptide hormone stimulus; response to gravity; receptor-mediated endocytosis; platelet activation; ossification; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; response to cAMP; heart development; response to glucocorticoid stimulus; response to lipopolysaccharide; signal transduction; response to L-ascorbic acid; negative regulation of angiogenesis; platelet degranulation; response to ethanol; response to cadmium ion; response to cytokine stimulus; negative regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; response to lead ion; regulation of cell morphogenesis; blood coagulation; response to calcium ion; inner ear development; lung development
