Other Notes

Small volumes of GRN elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS825095 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Progranulin (GRN) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing GRN. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS825095 kit is based on GRN antibody-GRN antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect GRN antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, GRN. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

UniProt Comments for GRN

GRN: Granulins have possible cytokine-like activity. They may play a role in inflammation, wound repair, and tissue remodeling. Defects in GRN are the cause of ubiquitin-positive frontotemporal dementia (UP-FTD); also known as tau- negative frontotemporal dementia linked to chromosome 17. Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is the second most common cause of dementia in people under the age of 65 years. It is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disease. Defects in GRN are the cause of neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis type 11 (CLN11). A form of neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis characterized by rapidly progressive visual loss due to retinal dystrophy, seizures, cerebellar ataxia, and cerebellar atrophy. Cognitive decline may also occur. Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses are progressive neurodegenerative, lysosomal storage diseases characterized by intracellular accumulation of autofluorescent liposomal material. Belongs to the granulin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
