CXCR5 Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS840458

Background: Chemokines play an important role in inflammation and critical for the recruitment of effector immune cells to sites of infection. Chemokines activate leukocytes by binding to G protein coupled receptors. The ever-growing chemokine receptor… More details

NCBI Summary for CXCR5

This gene encodes a multi-pass membrane protein that belongs to the CXC chemokine receptor family. It is expressed in mature B-cells and Burkitt's lymphoma. This cytokine receptor binds to B-lymphocyte chemoattractant (BLC), and is involved in B-cell migration into B-cell follicles of spleen and Peyer patches. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

UniProt Comments for CXCR5

CXCR5: Cytokine receptor that binds to B-lymphocyte chemoattractant (BLC). Involved in B-cell migration into B-cell follicles of spleen and Peyer patches but not into those of mesenteric or peripheral lymph nodes. May have a regulatory function in Burkitt lymphoma (BL) lymphomagenesis and/or B-cell differentiation. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 1

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q23.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; external side of plasma membrane

Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; protein binding; C-X-C chemokine receptor activity

Biological Process: positive regulation of cytokinesis; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; B cell activation; immune response; cell motility; chemotaxis; lymph node development
