MIP-2 Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS840551

Background: MIP-2 (macrophage inflammatory protein-2) is a 69-amino acid CC chemokine originally cloned from LPS-stimulated rat lung. MIP-2 is induced during acute inflammation in rat models of diseases. It is a potent neutrophil chemotactic factor both in… More details

NCBI Summary for MIP-2

chemokine involved in the pulmonary inflammatory response [RGD, Feb 2006]

UniProt Comments for MIP-2

CXCL3: Ligand for CXCR2. Has chemotactic activity for neutrophils. May play a role in inflammation and exert its effects on endothelial cells in an autocrine fashion. In vitro, the processed form GRO-gamma(5-73) shows a fivefold higher chemotactic activity for neutrophilic granulocytes. Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Cellular Component: extracellular space

Molecular Function: chemokine activity; CXCR chemokine receptor binding

Biological Process: neutrophil chemotaxis; wound healing; leukocyte chemotaxis; response to amphetamine; response to glucocorticoid stimulus; positive regulation of leukocyte chemotaxis; response to estradiol stimulus; regulation of cell proliferation; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; response to heat; response to molecule of bacterial origin; response to gamma radiation; immune response; inflammatory response
