Specificity
Specific for the tandem repeat of the MUC-1 core. Recognizes the hexapeptide (TRPAPG). The MUC-1 mucin (Cancer Antigen CA15-3) is secreted from tumor cells. The apo-protein of the MUC-1 mucin contains a transmembrane domain, a cytoplasmic domain, and an extracellular carbohydrate rich domain. The extracellular domain is characterized by polymorphism with respect to the number of a 20 amino acid tandem repeat (VNTR polymorphism).

Capture or detection antibody in serological assays for the research of antigen MUC-I. Forms a suitable pair withX108, Catalog # MBS8500225. Immunohistochemistry on frozen or paraffin sections for the detection of MUC-1. Immunochemical detection of MUC-1 protein. Each laboratory should determine an optimum working titer for use in its particular application. Other applications have not been tested but use in such assays should not necessarily be excluded.

Small volumes of anti-CA15-3 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
