Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized Rat Rantes although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution Rat CCL5 should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

The activity is determined by the ability to chemoattract total human lymphocytes and murine T-cells at a concentration between 1-10ng/ml corresponding to a Specific Activity of 100,000-1,000,000IU/mg.

Chemoattractant for blood monocytes, memory T-helper cells and eosinophils. Causes the release of histamine from basophils and activates eosinophils. May activate several chemokine receptors including CCR1, CCR3, CCR4 and CCR5. May also be an agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor GPR75. Together with GPR75, may play a role in neuron survival through activation of a downstream signaling pathway involving the PI3, Akt and MAP kinases. By activating GPR75 may also play a role in insulin secretion by islet cells.
