Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Biological Activity
The specific activity was found to be approximately 95-120 pmole/min/ ug. The enzymatic activity was confirmed by measuring the remaining peroxide after incubation of PRDX6 and peroxide for 20 min at room temperature. Specific activity is defined as the amount of hydroperoxide that 1ug of enzyme can reduce at 25 degree C for 1 minute.

Other Notes

Small volumes of PRDX6 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for PRDX6

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the thiol-specific antioxidant protein family. This protein is a bifunctional enzyme with two distinct active sites. It is involved in redox regulation of the cell; it can reduce H(2)O(2) and short chain organic, fatty acid, and phospholipid hydroperoxides. It may play a role in the regulation of phospholipid turnover as well as in protection against oxidative injury. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
