Other Notes

Small volumes of PERK elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS014568 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Phospho-Exiracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase (PERK) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PERK. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS014568 kit is based on PERK antibody-PERK antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PERK antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PERK. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PERK

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the PP2C family of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases. PP2C family members are known to be negative regulators of cell stress response pathways. This phosphatase dephosphorylates, and negatively regulates the activities of, MAP kinases and MAP kinase kinases. It has been shown to inhibit the activation of p38 and JNK kinase cascades induced by environmental stresses. This phosphatase can also dephosphorylate cyclin-dependent kinases, and thus may be involved in cell cycle control. Overexpression of this phosphatase is reported to activate the expression of the tumor suppressor gene TP53/p53, which leads to G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for PERK

PPPM1A: a Ser/Thr protein phosphatase of the PP2C family. Inhibits the activation of p38 and JNK kinase cascades induced by environmental stresses. Can also dephosphorylate cyclin-dependent kinases and may play a role in cell cycle control. Overexpression of this phosphatase activates the expression of p53, leading to G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.
