Product Synonym Names
EndoG
Clonality
Polyclonal
Host
Rabbit
Form/Format
100 ug IgG in PBS, pH 7.4, purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
EndoG [This rabbit antibody recognizes aa 55-70 of human, mouse, and rat EndoG (Endonuclease G).]
This antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat EndoG (Endonuclease G) an enzyme that is activated by apoptotic stimuli and is able to induce nucleosomal fragmentation of DNA independently of caspase and DFF/CAD. EndoG is a mitochondriaspecific nuclease that translocates to the nucleus and cleaves chromatin DNA during apoptosis.

3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q14249
Antigen
Peptide corresponding to aa 55-70 of human EndoG.
Stabilizer
None
Preservatives
0.02% sodium azide
Dilutions Instructions
Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.

Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-ENDOG antibody
Immunoblot
Application Notes for anti-ENDOG antibody
Immunoblotting: use at 1-2 ug/ml. In immunoblots, a band of 35 kD is detected.
Positive control: HepG2 cell lysate.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-ENDOG antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for ENDOG

The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear encoded endonuclease that is localized in the mitochondrion. The encoded protein is widely distributed among animals and cleaves DNA at GC tracts. This protein is capable of generating the RNA primers required by DNA polymerase gamma to initiate replication of mitochondrial DNA. [provided by RefSeq]

UniProt Comments for ENDOG

ENDOG: Cleaves DNA at double-stranded (DG)n.(DC)n and at single-stranded (DC)n tracts. In addition to deoxyribonuclease activities, also has ribonuclease (RNase) and RNase H activities. Capable of generating the RNA primers required by DNA polymerase gamma to initiate replication of mitochondrial DNA. Homodimer. Belongs to the DNA/RNA non-specific endonuclease family.

Protein type: Ribonuclease; EC 3.1.30.-; Apoptosis; Mitochondrial; Deoxyribonuclease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q34.1

Cellular Component: mitochondrion

Molecular Function: protein binding; nuclease activity; nucleic acid binding; endonuclease activity; metal ion binding

Biological Process: response to antibiotic; in utero embryonic development; positive regulation of apoptosis; DNA fragmentation during apoptosis; DNA recombination
