Caspase-6 (CASP6) ELISA Kit for Mouse

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS281999

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CASP6 in samples. An antibody specific for CASP6 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCASP6 present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of CASP6 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS281999 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Caspase-6 (CASP6) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing CASP6. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS281999 kit is based on CASP6 antibody-CASP6 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect CASP6 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, CASP6. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for CASP6

This gene encodes a member of the cysteine proteases that plays important roles in regulating apoptosis and neurodegeneration. The encoded protein is involved in the transmission of pain and axonal degeneration. Genetic deletion of this gene in mice results in the delay of axon pruning and protects from axon degeneration. UniProt Comments for CASP6

CASP6: Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase in vitro, as well as lamins. Overexpression promotes programmed cell death. Heterotetramer that consists of two anti-parallel arranged heterodimers, each one formed by a 18 kDa (p18) and a 11 kDa (p11) subunit. Interacts with BIRC6/bruce. Activation is suppressed by phosphorylation at Ser-257. Belongs to the peptidase C14A family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Apoptosis; EC 3.4.22.59; Protease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3|3 G3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: cysteine-type endopeptidase activity; cysteine-type peptidase activity; endopeptidase activity; hydrolase activity; identical protein binding; peptidase activity; protein binding
