Interleukin 33 (IL-33) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS283905

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate IL33 in samples. An antibody specific for IL33 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyIL33 present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL-33 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS283905 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Interleukin 33 (IL-33) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing IL-33. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS283905 kit is based on IL-33 antibody-IL-33 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect IL-33 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, IL-33. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for IL-33

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that binds to the IL1RL1/ST2 receptor. The encoded protein is involved in the maturation of Th2 cells and the activation of mast cells, basophils, eosinophils and natural killer cells. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

UniProt Comments for IL-33

IL33: Cytokine that binds to and signals through IL1RL1/ST2 and its stimulation recruits MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, and TRAF6, followed by phosphorylation of MAPK3/ERK1 and/or MAPK1/ERK2, MAPK14, and MAPK8. Induces T-helper type 2-associated cytokines. Belongs to the IL-1 family. Highly divergent. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cytokine

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9p24.1

Cellular Component: chromosome; cytosol; extracellular region; extracellular space; nucleoplasm; transport vesicle

Molecular Function: cytokine activity; protein binding

Biological Process: defense response to virus; microglial cell activation involved in immune response; negative regulation of immunoglobulin secretion; negative regulation of interferon-gamma production; negative regulation of leukocyte migration; negative regulation of T-helper 1 type immune response; positive regulation of immunoglobulin secretion; positive regulation of inflammatory response; positive regulation of interleukin-13 production; positive regulation of interleukin-4 production; positive regulation of interleukin-5 production; positive regulation of interleukin-6 production; positive regulation of macrophage activation; positive regulation of proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of type 2 immune response; protein deubiquitination; transcription, DNA-dependent; type 2 immune response
