Application Notes for anti-BATF antibody
Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 128000.
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 25kDa band in Human Spleen lysates after 1ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 14.1kDa according to NP_006390.1. The 25kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-BATF antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for BATF

The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear basic leucine zipper protein that belongs to the AP-1/ATF superfamily of transcription factors. The leucine zipper of this protein mediates dimerization with members of the Jun family of proteins. This protein is thought to be a negative regulator of AP-1/ATF transcriptional events. UniProt Comments for BATF

BATF: a nuclear basic leucine zipper protein that belongs to the AP-1/ATF superfamily of transcription factors. Functions as a negative regulator of AP-1 mediated transcription by binding to Jun proteins. Jun/B-ATF heterodimers bind DNA preferentially at the 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13- acetate response element (TRE) and weaker at the cAMP responsive region (CRE), but are transcriptionally inert.

Protein type: DNA-binding; Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q24.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: cytokine production; defense response to protozoan; DNA damage response, signal transduction by p53 class mediator; isotype switching; lymphoid progenitor cell differentiation; myeloid dendritic cell differentiation; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; response to DNA damage stimulus; T-helper 2 cell differentiation; transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter
