Varicella Zoster Virus ORF9 (VZV ORF9) Recombinant Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS553166

The varicella-zoster virus (VZV) ORF9 protein is a member of the herpesvirus UL49 gene family but shares limited identity and similarity with the UL49 prototype, herpes simplex virus type 1 VP22. ORF9 mRNA is the most abundantly expressed message during VZV… More details

Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
Varicella Zoster Virus ORF9 (VZV ORF9), Recombinant Protein
Full Product Name
Varicella Zoster Virus ORF9 Recombinant
Product Synonym Names
vzv; orf9; varicella zoster
Host
E Coli (Host protein expression may be lot-specific and can be subject to change during production, including bulk orders)
Form/Format
Lyophilized from 25mM Tris-Hcl pH 8.0, 1mM EDTA and 50% glycerol.
Purity/Purification
>95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this protein can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
32,816 Da
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q4JQW6
Host Note
DNA sequence encoding immunodominant fragment of Varicella Zoster virus ORF9 protein was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Recombinant Varicella Zoster virus ORF9 encodes the immunodominant sequences of the VZV ORF9 protein. This molecule has a calculated mass of approximately 5kDa.

Recombinant VZV ORF9 contains an N terminal GST purification tag and migrates as an approximately 31 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

Product Categories/Family for VZV ORF9 recombinant protein

Application Notes for VZV ORF9 recombinant protein
VZV ORF9 antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of VZV with minimal specificity problems.

Other Notes

Small volumes of VZV ORF9 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for VZV ORF9

Function: Tegument protein that may play a role in the nucleocapsid secondary envelopment at the trans-Golgi network during virus morphogenesis

Potential.

Subunit structure: Interacts with gE (via C-terminus); this interaction is necessary for the recruitment of VP22 to the Golgi and its packaging into virions. Interacts with VP16

By similarity. Ref.3

Subcellular location: Virion tegument

By similarity. Host cytoplasm

By similarity. Host nucleus

By similarity. Host Golgi apparatus

By similarity. Note: One of the most abundant tegument protein. During virion morphogenesis, this protein probably accumulates at the trans-Golgi where secondary envelopment occurs

By similarity. Ref.3

Post-translational modification: Highly phosphorylated in the host cell. Packaging is selective for underphosphorylated forms

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the alphaherpesvirinae VP22 tegument protein family.
