Arginine-Glutamic Acid Dipeptide (RERE) Antibody – Mouse Monoclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS601558

This gene encodes a member of the atrophin family of arginine-glutamic acid (RE) dipeptide repeat-containing proteins. The encoded protein co-localizes with a transcription factor in the nucleus, and its overexpression triggers apoptosis. A similar protein in… More details

UniProt Comments for RERE

RERE: Plays a role as a transcriptional repressor during development. May play a role in the control of cell survival. Overexpression of RERE recruits BAX to the nucleus particularly to POD and triggers caspase-3 activation, leading to cell death. A chromosomal aberration involving RERE is found in the neuroblastoma cell line. Translocation t(1;15)(p36.2;q24). 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Nuclear receptor co-regulator; Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p36.23

Cellular Component: histone deacetylase complex; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; zinc ion binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; poly-glutamine tract binding; chromatin binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: chromatin remodeling; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; transcription, DNA-dependent; multicellular organismal development; NLS-bearing substrate import into nucleus
