Malaria is a protozoan disease caused in humans by four species of the PLASMODIUM genus: PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM, PLASMODIUM VIVAX, PLASMODIUM OVALE, and PLASMODIUM MALARIAE, and transmitted by the bite of an infected female mosquito of the genus ANOPHELES. Malaria is endemic in parts of Asia, Africa, Central and South America, Oceania, and certain Caribbean islands. It is characterized by extreme exhaustion associated with paroxysms of high FEVER; SWEATING; shaking CHILLS; and ANEMIA. Malaria in ANIMALS is caused by other species of plasmodia.

The repeat region of the Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite (CS) protein contains 20 copies of the nine aa sequence DRA A/D GQPAG. The circumsporozoite protein is the immunodominant surface antigen on the sporozoite (the infective stage of the malaria parasite that is transmitted from the mosquito to the vertebrate host).

Small volumes of anti-Plasmodium vivax CSP antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap.
