mcp5 Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS651031

Murine macrophage/monocyte chemotactic protein-5 (MCP-5) is a member of the beta-chemokine family (C-C) of cytokines. This chemokine is strongly chemotactic for human monocytes and murine peritoneal macrophages, but is not active on mouse neutrophils and… More details

Product Gene Name
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Lyophilized protein with no additives.
Purity/Purification
Highly Purified
Greater than 99% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses. Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng perug of (1EU/ug) of murine MCP-5.
Preparation and Storage
-20 degree C
Stability: The lyophilized murine MCP-5, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated below 0 degree C. Reconstituted murine MCP-5 should be stored in working aliquots at -20 degree C.
Molecular Weight
9.3kD
Chromosome Location
Chromosome: II; NC_003423.3 (898070..901363). Location: chromosome: II

ModBase 3D Structure for Q9Y7J9
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Biological Activity
The biological activity of murine MCP-5 was determined by a chemotaxis assay using human peripheral blood monocytes. Significant chemotaxis was achieved using a concentration of 50 ng/ml.
Reconstitution
The lyophilized murine MCP-5 is soluble in water and most aqueous buffers. The lyophilized protein can be reconstituted in water to a concentration of 1.0 mg/ml. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions or stored at -20 degree C for future use.

Other Notes

Small volumes of mcp5 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for mcp5

Function: Involved in chromosome segregation. Facilitates nuclear oscillation during meiotic prophase I, the 'horsetail' phase, by acting as a dynein anchor. Essential for anchoring dhc1 to the cortex. Required for proper sliding of the microtubules along the cell cortex, which leads to the proper U-turn movement of the nucleus. Ref.1 Ref.3 Ref.4

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm › cell cortex. Note: Localizes to the cell cortex during the 'horsetail' phase of mitosis. Ref.1 Ref.4 Ref.5

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 PH domain.
