ELISA: In a sandwich ELISA (assuming 100ul/well), a concentration of 1-2 ug/ml of this antibody will detect at least 0.03 ng/well of recombinant human MDC when used with PeproTech's biotinylated antigen affinity purified anti-human MDC as the detection antibody at a concentration of at least 1 ug/ml.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-MDC antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for MDC

This gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) protein family. Members of this family are membrane-anchored proteins structurally related to snake venom disintegrins, and have been implicated in a variety of biological processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. This gene represents a candidate tumor supressor gene for human breast cancer based on its location within a minimal region of chromosome 17q21 previously defined by tumor deletion mapping. UniProt Comments for MDC

Function: Probable ligand for integrin in the brain. This is a non catalytic metalloprotease-like protein.

Subunit structure: Can bind to LGI1 and LGI4

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Expressed predominantly in brain. Slightly detected or not at all in other tissues.

Domain: A conserved motif [AVN[ED]CD] within the disintegrin-like domain could be involved in the binding to the integrin receptor.

Post-translational modification: The precursor is cleaved by a furin endopeptidase

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 disintegrin domain.Contains 1 EGF-like domain.Contains 1 peptidase M12B domain.
