JIK Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS840656

Background: JNK/SAPK-inhibitory kinase (JIK) is a serine/threonine kinase that belongs to the STE20 kinase family. The kinase domain of JIK is similar to the GCK-like subfamily of STE20 kinases, while its non-catalytic domain is similar to a Caenorhabditis… More details

UniProt Comments for JIK

TAO3: Serine/threonine-protein kinase that acts as a regulator of the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade and of the MAPK8/JNK cascade. Acts as an activator of the p38/MAPK14 stress- activated MAPK cascade. In response to DNA damage, involved in the G2/M transition DNA damage checkpoint by activating the p38/MAPK14 stress-activated MAPK cascade, probably by mediating phosphorylation of upstream MAP2K3 and MAP2K6 kinases. Inhibits basal activity of MAPK8/JNK cascade and diminishes its activation in response epidermal growth factor (EGF). Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family. STE20 subfamily.

Protein type: Protein kinase, STE; Kinase, protein; EC 2.7.11.1; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); STE group; STE20 family; TAO subfamily

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: transferase activity; protein serine/threonine kinase activity; protein binding; protein kinase inhibitor activity; MAP kinase kinase kinase activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of JNK activity; negative regulation of JNK cascade; activation of MAPKK activity; mitotic cell cycle G2/M transition DNA damage checkpoint; protein amino acid autophosphorylation; MAPKKK cascade; positive regulation of JNK cascade; negative regulation of protein kinase activity; DNA repair; protein amino acid phosphorylation; response to DNA damage stimulus; positive regulation of stress-activated MAPK cascade
