aFGF Human Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS9718661

aFGF, also known as FGF1 and HBGF-1, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family. The biological activity of aFGF protein is exerted through binding to four high affinity cell surface receptors (FGFR1-4), which results in receptor dimerization and… More details

Sequence
Amino acid sequence derived from mature form of human FGF acidic (AAA79245. 1) (Phe 16-Asp 155) was expressed, with an additional Met at the N-terminus .
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4
Purity/Purification
>95% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Preparation and Storage
Item should be stored desiccated below -20 degree C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

16 kDa
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Species
Human
Protein Length
The recombinant human FGF acidic consists of 141 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 16 kDa as estimated by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
Activity
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using BALB/c 3T3 mouse fibroblasts. The ED50 for this effect is typically 50-200 pg/ml.
Usage Notes
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Human aFGF protein in PBS, PH7.4 not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

NCBI Summary for aFGF

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This protein functions as a modifier of endothelial cell migration and proliferation, as well as an angiogenic factor. It acts as a mitogen for a variety of mesoderm- and neuroectoderm-derived cells in vitro, thus is thought to be involved in organogenesis. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009]
