IL4 Mouse Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS4159933

IL-4 is produced mainly by a subpopulation of activated T cells (Th2) which are the biologically most active helper cells for B cells and which also secrete IL-5 and IL-6. Another subpopulation (Th1) also produces IL-4 albeit to a lesser extent. Non-T/Non-B… More details

Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered solution in PBS, pH 7.
Purity/Purification
>95% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at-70 degree C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2-8 degree C for one month, or at-20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

ModBase 3D Structure for P07750
Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Bioactivity
The ED(50) was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells is <= 0.4 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of >= 2.0 x 10^6 units/mg.
Endotoxin Level
<1.0 EU/ug of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method.
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL4 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for IL4

IL4: Participates in at least several B-cell activation processes as well as of other cell types. It is a costimulator of DNA-synthesis. It induces the expression of class II MHC molecules on resting B-cells. It enhances both secretion and cell surface expression of IgE and IgG1. It also regulates the expression of the low affinity Fc receptor for IgE (CD23) on both lymphocytes and monocytes. Genetic variations in IL4 may be a cause of susceptibility to ischemic stroke (ISCHSTR); also known as cerebrovascular accident or cerebral infarction. A stroke is an acute neurologic event leading to death of neural tissue of the brain and resulting in loss of motor, sensory and/or cognitive function. Ischemic strokes, resulting from vascular occlusion, is considered to be a highly complex disease consisting of a group of heterogeneous disorders with multiple genetic and environmental risk factors. Belongs to the IL-4/IL-13 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
