CTGF Antibody

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS614804

CTGF is a 38kD, cysteine-rich, secreted peptide. It is a new member of the peptide family that include serum-induced immediate early gene products, a v-src-induced peptide, and a putative proto-oncogene. Among the many functions of the CTGF gene family are… More details

Application Notes for anti-CTGF antibody
Immunohistochemistry:
This antibody stained formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of human breast invasive malignant carcinoma. The recommended concentration is 0.125 ug/mL-0.250 ug/mL with an overnight incubation at 4°C. An HRP-labeled polymer detection system was used with a DAB chromogen. Heat induced antigen retrieval with a pH 6.0 sodium citrate buffer is recommended. Optimal concentrations and conditions may vary.
Neutrilization:
To yield one-half maximal inhibition [ND50] of the biological activity of human CTGF (5.0 ug/ml), a concentration of 6.0 - 9.0 ug/ml of this antibody is required.
Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human CTGF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 ul/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 ug/ml of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with Biotinylated Anti-Human CTGF (MBS695113) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human CTGF.
Western Blot:
To detect Human CTGF by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hCTGF is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory for each application.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-CTGF antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for CTGF

The protein encoded by this gene is a mitogen that is secreted by vascular endothelial cells. The encoded protein plays a role in chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation, cell adhesion in many cell types, and is related to platelet-derived growth factor. Certain polymorphisms in this gene have been linked with a higher incidence of systemic sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq]

UniProt Comments for CTGF

CTGF: Major connective tissue mitoattractant secreted by vascular endothelial cells. Promotes proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes. Mediates heparin- and divalent cation-dependent cell adhesion in many cell types including fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells. Enhances fibroblast growth factor-induced DNA synthesis. Belongs to the CCN family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
