BRDT Antibody (N-Term) Blocking Peptide

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS9226601

Testis-specific chromatin protein that specifically binds histone H4 acetylated at 'Lys-5' and 'Lys-8' (H4K5ac and H4K8ac, respectively) and plays a key role in spermatogenesis. Required in late pachytene spermatocytes: plays a role in meiotic and… More details

Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
BRDT, Blocking Peptide
Full Product Name
BRDT Antibody (N-term) Blocking Peptide
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
Bromodomain testis-specific protein; Cancer/testis antigen 9; CT9; RING3-like protein; BRDT
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the N-term region of human BRDT. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Antibody/Peptide Pairs
BRDT peptide (MBS9226601) is used for blocking the activity of BRDT antibody (MBS9205210)
Molecular Weight
99,394 Da
OMIM
602144
Cellular Location
Nucleus Note: Detected on chromatin
Tissue Location
Testis-specific. A 3-fold higher expression is seen in adult testis than in embryo testis. Expression seems to be correlated with histone H4 hyperacetylation during the haploid phase of spermatogenesis (spermiogenesis). No expression, or very low expression is seen in patients' testes with abnormal spermatogenesis. Expressed in cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer and squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck as well as of esophagus, but not in melanoma or in cancers of the colon, breast, kidney and bladder.

Other Notes

Small volumes of BRDT blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for BRDT

BRDT is similar to the RING3 protein family. It possesses 2 bromodomain motifs and a PEST sequence (a cluster of proline, glutamic acid, serine, and threonine residues), characteristic of proteins that undergo rapid intracellular degradation. The bromodomain is found in proteins that regulate transcription. Several transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

UniProt Comments for BRDT

BRDT: an atypical protein kinase of the BRD family. Possesses 2 bromodomain motifs and a PEST sequence (a cluster of proline, glutamic acid, serine, and threonine residues), characteristic of proteins that undergo rapid intracellular degradation. The bromodomain is found in proteins that regulate transcription. A testis-specific protein that is also expressed at a high level in non-small cell lung cancer

Protein type: Cancer Testis Antigen (CTA); Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Protein kinase, atypical; Kinase, protein; ATYPICAL group; BRD family

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p22.1

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: histone binding; transcription coactivator activity

Biological Process: chromatin remodeling; male meiosis; male meiosis I; positive regulation of transcription, meiotic; regulation of RNA splicing; spermatogenesis
