Product Name
MVP, Blocking Peptide
Full Product Name
MVP Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Gene Name
LRP
Product Synonym Names
Major vault protein; MVP; Lung resistance-related protein; MVP; LRP
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human MVP. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Antibody/Peptide Pairs
MVP peptide (MBS9225965) is used for blocking the activity of MVP antibody (MBS9214224)
Molecular Weight
99,327 Da
OMIM
605088
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus, nuclear pore complex. Note: 5% found in the nuclear pore complex. Translocates from the nucleus to the cytoplasm upon EGF treatment
Tissue Location
Present in most normal tissues. Higher expression observed in epithelial cells with secretory and excretory functions, as well as in cells chronically exposed to xenobiotics, such as bronchial cells and cells lining the intestine. Overexpressed in many multidrug-resistant cancer cells

Other Notes

Small volumes of MVP blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for MVP

This gene encodes the major component of the vault complex. Vaults are multi-subunit ribonucleoprotein structures that may be involved in nucleo-cytoplasmic transport. The encoded protein may play a role in multiple cellular processes by regulating the MAP kinase, JAK/STAT and phosphoinositide 3-kinase/Akt signaling pathways. The encoded protein also plays a role in multidrug resistance, and expression of this gene may be a prognostic marker for several types of cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]

UniProt Comments for MVP

MVP: Required for normal vault structure. Vaults are multi- subunit structures that may act as scaffolds for proteins involved in signal transduction. Vaults may also play a role in nucleo- cytoplasmic transport. Down-regulates INFG-mediated STAT1 signaling and subsequent activation of JAK. Down-regulates SRC activity and signaling through MAP kinases.
