Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
RAB21, Blocking Peptide
Full Product Name
RAB21 Antibody (C-term) Blocking peptide
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Gene Name
KIAA0118
Product Synonym Names
Ras-related protein Rab-21; RAB21; KIAA0118
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of RAB21. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Antibody/Peptide Pairs
RAB21 peptide (MBS9219876) is used for blocking the activity of RAB21 antibody (MBS9200750)
Molecular Weight
24,348 Da
OMIM
612398
Cellular Location
Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Lipid-anchor. Golgi apparatus, trans- Golgi network. Golgi apparatus membrane. Early endosome membrane. Cytoplasmic vesicle membrane Cleavage furrow. Note: Colocalizes with ANKRD27 and VAMP7 in neurites (By similarity). In nonpolarized epithelial Caco-2 cells, found in the endoplasmic reticulum; in polarized cells, observed in vesicles in the apical cytoplasm. During mitosis, in mid- telophase, localized in the ingressing cleavage furrow. In late telophase, detected at the opposite poles of the daughter cells, in vesicles at the base of lamellipodia formed by the separating daughter cells.
Tissue Location
Widely expressed. In jejunal tissue, predominantly expressed in the apical region of the epithelial cell layer of the villi, weak expression, if any, in the crypt epithelium. Capillary endothelium and some cell types in the lamina propria also show expression

Other Notes

Small volumes of RAB21 blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for RAB21

This gene belongs to the Rab family of monomeric GTPases, which are involved in the control of cellular membrane traffic. The encoded protein plays a role in the targeted trafficking of integrins via its association with integrin alpha tails. As a consequence, the encoded protein is involved in the regulation of cell adhesion and migration. Expression of this gene is associated with a poor prognosis for glioma patients. This gene is downregulated by the tumor suppressor miR-200b, and miRNA-200b is itself downregulated in glioma tissues. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]

UniProt Comments for RAB21

RAB21: Regulates integrin internalization and recycling, but does not influence the traffic of endosomally translocated receptors in general. As a result, may regulate cell adhesion and migration. During the mitosis of adherent cells, controls the endosomal trafficking of integrins which is required for the successful completion of cytokinesis. Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. Rab family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; G protein, monomeric; G protein, monomeric, Rab

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q21.1

Cellular Component: endosome; focal adhesion; internal side of plasma membrane; trans-Golgi network; vesicle membrane

Molecular Function: GDP binding; GTP binding; GTPase activity; protein binding
