Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
SOD3, Blocking Peptide
Full Product Name
SOD3 Antibody (N-term) Blocking Peptide
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
Extracellular superoxide dismutase [Cu-Zn]; EC-SOD; SOD3
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the N-term region of human SOD3. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Antibody/Peptide Pairs
SOD3 peptide (MBS9226396) is used for blocking the activity of SOD3 antibody (MBS9214352)
Molecular Weight
25,851 Da
OMIM
185490
Cellular Location
Secreted, extracellular space. Note: 99% of EC-SOD is anchored to heparan sulfate proteoglycans in the tissue interstitium, and 1% is located in the vasculature in equilibrium between the plasma and the endothelium
Tissue Location
Expressed in blood vessels, heart, lung, kidney and placenta. Major SOD isoenzyme in extracellular fluids such as plasma, lymph and synovial fluid

Other Notes

Small volumes of SOD3 blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for SOD3

This gene encodes a member of the superoxide dismutase (SOD) protein family. SODs are antioxidant enzymes that catalyze the conversion of superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen, which may protect the brain, lungs, and other tissues from oxidative stress. Proteolytic processing of the encoded protein results in the formation of two distinct homotetramers that differ in their ability to interact with the extracellular matrix (ECM). Homotetramers consisting of the intact protein, or type C subunit, exhibit high affinity for heparin and are anchored to the ECM. Homotetramers consisting of a proteolytically cleaved form of the protein, or type A subunit, exhibit low affinity for heparin and do not interact with the ECM. A mutation in this gene may be associated with increased heart disease risk. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]
