Other Notes

Small volumes of GPR84 cdna clone vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for GPR84

GPR84: Receptor for medium-chain free fatty acid (FFA) with carbon chain lengths of C9 to C14. Capric acid (C10:0), undecanoic acid (C11:0) and lauric acid (C12:0) are the most potent agonists. Not activated by short-chain and long-chain saturated and unsaturated FFAs. Activation by medium-chain free fatty acid is coupled to a pertussis toxin sensitive G(i/o) protein pathway. May have important roles in processes from fatty acid metabolism to regulation of the immune system. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 1; Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.13

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; receptor complex

Molecular Function: peptide receptor activity, G-protein coupled

Biological Process: G-protein signaling, coupled to IP3 second messenger (phospholipase C activating); neuropeptide signaling pathway
