Other Notes

Small volumes of PFDN6 cdna clone vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for PFDN6

PFDN6 is a subunit of the heteromeric prefoldin complex that chaperones nascent actin (see MIM 102560) and alpha- and beta-tubulin (see MIM 602529 and MIM 191130, respectively) chains pending their transfer to the cytosolic chaperonin containing TCP1 (MIM 186980) (CCT) complex (Hansen et al., 1999 [PubMed 10209023]).[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2010]

UniProt Comments for PFDN6

PFDN6: Binds specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it. Binds to nascent polypeptide chain and promotes folding in an environment in which there are many competing pathways for nonnative proteins. Belongs to the prefoldin subunit beta family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Chaperone

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p21.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; prefoldin complex

Molecular Function: chaperone binding; unfolded protein binding

Biological Process: 'de novo' posttranslational protein folding; cellular protein metabolic process; protein folding; chaperone-mediated protein complex assembly
