Other Notes

Small volumes of CES1 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Searchable Terms for CES1 purchase

Human esterase (CES 1), a prominently expressed carboxylesterase in most tissues, catalyzes hydrolysis of aromatic and aliphatic esters. In research and in clinical practice, it can be used as a spiking control during drug screens and urinanlysis and as a catalyst in organic synthesis reactions. Evidence is also mounting - see Pubmed Europe database abstracts - for multiple enzyme target proteins and pathways. MyBiosource.com is the largest supplier of highly purified protein from porcine liver. High quality, protein sequence verified in combination with excellent enzymatic activity, make this product a top choice in Europe and worldwide. Applications are endless but include complex combination experimental computational enzymatic and biochemical assays and enzyme inhibitor drug screens in cells. Many of these protocols are freely available as abstract cited works in Europe PMC collections.

UniProt Comments for CES1

Involved in the detoxification of xenobiotics and in the activation of ester and amide prodrugs. Active towards triacylglycerides containing short-chain fatty acids from C2 to C6, and 13-monoacylglycerols containing fatty acids from C2 to C12. Inactive on long-chain triacylglycerols and diacylglycerol. Hydrolyzes aromatic and alkyl esters and vitamin A acetate. The hydrolysis rate depends upon the amino acid promoiety and the esterification site of the prodrug. Aromatic promoieties are favored, highest rates are observed with phenylalanyl progdrugs, hydrolysis of valyl and isoleucyl prodrugs is less efficient. With floxuridine prodrugs, activity is higher on 5' monoesters than on 3' monoesters. With gemcitabine prodrugs, activity is higher on 3' monoesters than on 5' monoesters.
