IGF-BP2 Human Active Protein

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS692085

IGF-BPs controls the distribution, function and activity of IGFs in various cell tissues and body fluids. Currently there are seven named IGF-BPs that form high affinity complexes with both IGF-I and IGF-II. IGF-BP2 is a cysteine-rich secreted protein… More details

Active Protein Note
Protein activity can be an ambiguous term. Please refer to the data sheet or inquire with Technical Support to determine the definition of activity for this product.
Endotoxin Level
< 0.1 ng/ug of protein (1<1EU/ug).
Biological Activity
Determined by its ability to inhibit IGF-I induced proliferation of FDC-P1 cells.
Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/m. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8 degree C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20 degree to -80 degree C.
ISO Certification
Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Laboratory.

Other Notes

Small volumes of IGF-BP2 active protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for IGF-BP2

Function: Inhibits IGF-mediated growth and developmental rates. IGF-binding proteins prolong the half-life of the IGFs and have been shown to either inhibit or stimulate the growth promoting effects of the IGFs on cell culture. They alter the interaction of IGFs with their cell surface receptors. Ref.11

Subunit structure: Binds IGF2 more than IGF1.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Domain: The C-terminus is required for IGF-binding and growth inhibition. Ref.11

Post-translational modification: O-glycosylated. Ref.10

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 IGFBP N-terminal domain.Contains 1 thyroglobulin type-1 domain.
