Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
IL-1 beta, ELISA Kit
Full Product Name
Human IL-1 beta ELISA Kit
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
IL-1 b
Species Reactivity
Human. No cross reactivity with other human cytokines.
Assay Type
Quantitative Sandwich
Samples
Serum and plasma samples
Sensitivity
6.5 pg/ml.
Specificity
The assay recognizes both natural and recombinant human IL-1beta. To define the specificity of this ELISA several proteins were tested for cross reactivity. There was no cross reactivity observed for any protein tested (IL-1alpha, IL-2, IL-10, IL-12, IL-17A, IL-23, IFNgamma, Gp130, IL-33, TNFalpha).
Inter-assay Precision
Assay to assay reproducibility within one laboratory was evaluated in three independent experiments by two technicians. Each assay was carried out with 6 replicates (3 duplicates) in 2 human pooled serum, 2 in RPMI and 2 in standard diluent with samples containing different concentrations of IL-1beta. 2 standard curves were run on each plate. The calculated overall coefficient of variation was 8.7%.
Intra-assay Precision
Reproducibility within the assay was evaluated in three independent experiments. Each assay was carried out with 6 replicates (3 duplicates) in 2 human pooled serum, 2 in RPMI and 2 in standard diluent with samples containing different concentrations of IL-1beta. 2 standard curves were run on each plate. The overall intra-assay coefficient of variation has been calculated to be 4.5%

Other Notes

Small volumes of IL-1 beta elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS335481 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the IL-1 beta, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing IL-1 beta. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS335481 kit is based on IL-1 beta antibody-IL-1 beta antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect IL-1 beta antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, IL-1 beta. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for IL-1 beta

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This cytokine is produced by activated macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed to its active form by caspase 1 (CASP1/ICE). This cytokine is an important mediator of the inflammatory response, and is involved in a variety of cellular activities, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. The induction of cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX2) by this cytokine in the central nervous system (CNS) is found to contribute to inflammatory pain hypersensitivity. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for IL-1 beta

IL1B: Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. Monomer. Belongs to the IL-1 family.
