Application Notes for anti-IL13 antibody
FC: <= 1 ug/test

A test is defined as the amount (ug) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 ul. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest

Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS) of anti-IL13 antibody

BALB/c splenocytes were stimulated for 3 days with plate-bound CD3e antibody, soluble CD28 antibody, Mouse IL-2 protein, and Mouse IL-4 protein. Cells were then restimulated with Cell Stimulation Cocktail (plus protein transport inhibitors) for 5 hours. Following restimulation, cells were fixed Permeabilized then stained with CD4 antibody (FITC) and 0.125 ug of Rat IgG1 K Isotype Control (PE) or 0.125 ug of IL-13 antibody (PE). Viable cells, as determined by Fixable Viability Dye eFluor

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-IL13 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for IL13

This gene encodes an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. This cytokine is involved in several stages of B-cell maturation and differentiation. It up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching of B cells. This cytokine down-regulates macrophage activity, thereby inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. This cytokine is found to be critical to the pathogenesis of allergen-induced asthma but operates through mechanisms independent of IgE and eosinophils. This gene, IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with this gene particularly close to IL4. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for IL13

IL13: Cytokine. Inhibits inflammatory cytokine production. Synergizes with IL2 in regulating interferon-gamma synthesis. May be critical in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. Defects in IL13 may be a cause of susceptibility to allergic rhinitis (ALRH). Allergic rhinitis is a common disease of complex inheritance and is characterized by mucosal inflammation caused by allergen exposure. Belongs to the IL-4/IL-13 family.
