This antibody is specific against CD36. The antibody recognizes an epitope between amino acids 155 - 183. CD36 is a receptor for different ligands such as phospholipids, cholesterol ester, lipoproteins, phosphatidylserine and apoptotic cells. It acts as a receptor for hepatitis C virus in hepatocytes and appears to facilitate its cell entry as well as mediates uptake of M. fortuitum, E. coli and S. aureus.

Animal-free Manufacturing Platform
The recombinant antibody is manufactured using a recombinant, mammalian HEK293-based expression platform. The manufacturing platform is animal-free and animal component-free.
Chimeric Use Statement
This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgM format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.

Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Laboratory.
Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-CD36 antibody
Blocking (BL), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS)
Application Notes for anti-CD36 antibody
This antibody is recommended for the detection and analysis of CD36 via various methods. For instance, it was used to stain ovarian cancer tissue samples via immunohistochemistry, demonstrating that CD36 was expressed in the cytoplasm of cancer cells while stromal cells were negative (Têtu et al., 2008). Furthermore, 185-1G2 antibody was shown to precipitate CD36 from a platelate lysate sample (Miao et al., 2001). Finally, this antibody has also blocking properties against CD36 and has been widely used to inhibit this receptor (Short et al., 2005).

Western Blot (WB) of anti-CD36 antibody

Western Blot using anti-CD36 antibody 185-1G2 (B467) (MBS488728) Human peripheral blood monocyte cell lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer) was resolved on a SDS PAGE gel and blots were probed with the chimeric rabbit version of 185-1G2 (B467) () at 0.03ug/ml before detection using an anti-rabbit secondary antibody. A primary incubation of 1h was used and protein was detected by chemiluminescence.

Immunofluorescence (IF) of anti-CD36 antibody

Immunofluorescence staining of fixed HepG2 cells with anti-CD36 antibody 185-1G2 (B467) (MBS488728) Immunofluorescence analysis of paraformaldehyde fixed HepG2 cells on Shi-fix coverslips stained with the chimeric rabbit IgG version of 185-1G2 (B467) () at 10ug/ml for 1h followed by Alexa Fluor 488 secondary antibody (2ug/ml), showing membrane staining. The nuclear stain is DAPI (blue). Panels show from left-right, top-bottom , DAPI, merged channels and an isotype control. The isotype control was an unknown specificity antibody (MBS488149) followed by staining with Alexa Fluor 488 secondary antibody.

NCBI Summary for CD36

The protein encoded by this gene is a plasma membrane receptor for high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL). The encoded protein mediates cholesterol transfer to and from HDL. In addition, this protein is a receptor for hepatitis C virus glycoprotein E2. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

UniProt Comments for CD36

SCARB1: Receptor for different ligands such as phospholipids, cholesterol ester, lipoproteins, phosphatidylserine and apoptotic cells. Probable receptor for HDL, located in particular region of the plasma membrane, called caveolae. Facilitates the flux of free and esterified cholesterol between the cell surface and extracellular donors and acceptors, such as HDL and to a lesser extent, apoB-containing lipoproteins and modified lipoproteins. Probably involved in the phagocytosis of apoptotic cells, via its phosphatidylserine binding activity. Receptor for hepatitis C virus glycoprotein E2. Binding between SCARB1 and E2 was found to be independent of the genotype of the viral isolate. Plays an important role in the uptake of HDL cholesteryl ester. Belongs to the CD36 family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
