Other Notes

Small volumes of Gsn elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS267607 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Gelsolin (Gsn) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing Gsn. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS267607 kit is based on Gsn antibody-Gsn antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect Gsn antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, Gsn. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for Gsn

plays a role in phosphoinositide mediated disassembly of actin filaments in Sertoli cell adhesion complexes; may regulate sperm release and turnover of the blood-testis barrier [RGD, Feb 2006]

UniProt Comments for Gsn

Gelsolin: a calcium-regulated, actin-modulating protein that binds to the plus (or barbed) ends of actin monomers or filaments, preventing monomer exchange (end-blocking or capping). It can promote the assembly of monomers into filaments (nucleation) as well as sever filaments already formed. Its expression is significantly decreased in many tumors and transformed cell lines. Gelsolin and other proteins including E-cadherin, BRCA, p21WAF, HoxA5, and retinoic acid receptor II are regulated by epigenetic changes in breast cancers. Gelsolin helps mediate the ability of HDAC inhibitors to protect neurons from oxygen/glucose deprivation. Two human isoforms are produced by alternative initiation.

Cellular Component: ruffle; extracellular space; protein complex; focal adhesion; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; lamellipodium; extracellular region; cytosol; actin cytoskeleton

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding; actin binding

Biological Process: regulation of cell adhesion; actin filament severing; phosphoinositide-mediated signaling; wound healing; apoptosis; actin nucleation; vesicle-mediated transport; response to ethanol; tissue regeneration; actin filament polymerization; actin polymerization and/or depolymerization; response to folic acid; barbed-end actin filament capping; oligodendrocyte development; aging
