Species Reactivity
Mouse
Assay Type
Double-antibody Sandwich
Samples
Tissue homogenates, Cell lysates and other biological fluids
Detection Range
0.156-10ng/mL
Sensitivity
0.055ng/mL
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of reelin. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between reelin and analogues was observed.
Preparation and Storage
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.
Inter-assay Precision
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level reelin were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate. CV(%) = SD/meanX100. Inter-Assay: CV<12%
Intra-assay Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level reelin were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Intra-Assay: CV<10%

Other Notes

Small volumes of RL elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Searchable Terms for RL purchase

MBS2021805 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Reelin (RL) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing RL. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2021805 kit is based on RL antibody-RL antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect RL antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, RL. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for RL

This gene encodes a large secreted extracellular matrix protein thought to control cell-cell interactions critical for cell positioning and neuronal migration during brain development. This protein may be involved in schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder, major depression and in migration defects associated with temporal lobe epilepsy. Mutations of this gene are associated with autosomal recessive lissencephaly with cerebellar hypoplasia. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. Other transcript variants have been described but their full length nature has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for RL

reelin: Extracellular matrix serine protease that plays a role in layering of neurons in the cerebral cortex and cerebellum. Regulates microtubule function in neurons and neuronal migration. Affects migration of sympathetic preganglionic neurons in the spinal cord, where it seems to act as a barrier to neuronal migration. Enzymatic activity is important for the modulation of cell adhesion. Binding to the extracellular domains of lipoprotein receptors VLDLR and LRP8/APOER2 induces tyrosine phosphorylation of DAB1 and modulation of TAU phosphorylation. Defects in RELN are the cause of lissencephaly type 2 (LIS2); also known as lissencephaly with cerebellar hypoplasia or Norman-Roberts syndrome. LIS2 is a classic type lissencephaly associated with abnormalities of the cerebellum, hippocampus and brainstem. Individuals with LIS2 are severely ataxic, mentally retarded and suffer from epilepsy. Belongs to the reelin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
