Melatonin (MT) ELISA Kit for Goat

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS285150

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MT in samples. An antibody specific for MT has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMT present is bound by the… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of MT elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS285150 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Melatonin (MT) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing MT. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS285150 kit is based on MT antibody-MT antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect MT antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, MT. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for MT

This gene encodes one of two high affinity forms of a receptor for melatonin, the primary hormone secreted by the pineal gland. This receptor is a G-protein coupled, 7-transmembrane receptor that is responsible for melatonin effects on mammalian circadian rhythm and reproductive alterations affected by day length. The receptor is an integral membrane protein that is readily detectable and localized to two specific regions of the brain. The hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus appears to be involved in circadian rhythm while the hypophysial pars tuberalis may be responsible for the reproductive effects of melatonin.
