Research Use Only
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Whole antiserum
Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Dissolve the antiserum in 50 - 100 ul distilled water, and dilute further in 0.1M PBS with 1% BSA and 0.1% NaN3.
Biological Significance
The CGRP-sequence was predicted from the corresponding mRNA. CGRP is present in the C-cells of the thyroid and in nerves, in both brain and periphery, particularly within the sensory system. CGRP is a potent vasodilator, probably involved in neurogenic inflammation. Medullary carcinomas of the thyroid contain large amounts of CGRP. Absorption with 10 ? 100 ug CGRP per ml diluted antiserum abolishes the staining while calcitonin does not. Does not cross-react with amylin (IAPP)
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
CGRP antibody was raised in rabbit using calcitonin gene-related peptide as the immunogen.
