VEGF Antibody – Goat Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS220220

Goat anti Human VEGF antibody specifically recognizes human VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), a heparin-binding cytokine and member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family, which exists as several splice variants of the VEGF gene. VEGF, originally… More details

Host
Goat
Form/Format
Biotin
Purified IgG conjugated to Biotin - lyophilised
Concentration
IgG concentration 0.1 mg/ml after reconstitution. (lot specific)
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at 4 degree C. Following reconstitution store at -20 degree C. This product should be stored undiluted. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.

192240
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P15692
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with 0.5ml sterile PBS containing 0.1% Bovine Serum Albumin. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. MyBioSource recommends that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For long term storage, the addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended.
Buffer Solution
Phosphate buffered saline
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human VEGF were raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-VEGF antibody
ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes for anti-VEGF antibody
ELISA: This biotinylated human VEGF antibody may be used in a direct ELISA or as the detection reagent in a sandwich ELISA with our purified human VEGF antibody as the capture reagent and recombinant human VEGF as the standard.
Western Blot: This antibody may be used in Western Blotting under either reducing or non-reducing conditions with recombinant human VEGF as the positive control.
ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.25; Maximum Dilution: 1.0ug/ml
Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.1; Maximum Dilution: 0.2ug/ml

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-VEGF antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for VEGF

This gene is a member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family and encodes a protein that is often found as a disulfide linked homodimer. This protein is a glycosylated mitogen that specifically acts on endothelial cells and has various effects, including mediating increased vascular permeability, inducing angiogenesis, vasculogenesis and endothelial cell growth, promoting cell migration, and inhibiting apoptosis. Elevated levels of this protein is linked to POEMS syndrome, also known as Crow-Fukase syndrome. Mutations in this gene have been associated with proliferative and nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants, encoding either freely secreted or cell-associated isoforms, have been characterized. There is also evidence for the use of non-AUG (CUG) translation initiation sites upstream of, and in-frame with the first AUG, leading to additional isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for VEGF

Growth factor active in angiogenesis, vasculogenesis and endothelial cell growth. Induces endothelial cell proliferation, promotes cell migration, inhibits apoptosis and induces permeabilization of blood vessels. Binds to the FLT1/VEGFR1 and KDR/VEGFR2 receptors, heparan sulfate and heparin. NRP1/Neuropilin-1 binds isoforms VEGF-165 and VEGF-145. Isoform VEGF165B binds to KDR but does not activate downstream signaling pathways, does not activate angiogenesis and inhibits tumor growth.
