Application Notes for anti-BRAK antibody
Direct Detection: To detect hBRAK by direct ELISA (using 100 mul/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.25 - 1.0 mug/ml of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant hBRAK.

Sandwich ELISA: To detect hBRAK by sandwich ELISA (using 100 mul/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.25 - 1.0 mug/ml of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with Polyclonal Anti-Human BRAK as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant hBRAK.

Western Blot: To detect hBRAK by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hBRAK is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-BRAK antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for BRAK

This antimicrobial gene belongs to the cytokine gene family which encode secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The protein encoded by this gene is structurally related to the CXC (Cys-X-Cys) subfamily of cytokines. Members of this subfamily are characterized by two cysteines separated by a single amino acid. This cytokine displays chemotactic activity for monocytes but not for lymphocytes, dendritic cells, neutrophils or macrophages. It has been implicated that this cytokine is involved in the homeostasis of monocyte-derived macrophages rather than in inflammation. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]

UniProt Comments for BRAK

CXCL14: Potent chemoattractant for neutrophils, and weaker for dendritic cells. Not chemotactic for T-cells, B-cells, monocytes, natural killer cells or granulocytes. Does not inhibit proliferation of myeloid progenitors in colony formation assays. Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.
