MCL1 Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS3903069

Myeloid cell leukemia sequence 1 (MCL1) is involved in the regulation of apoptosis versus cell survival, and in the maintenance of viability but not of proliferation. MCL1 mediates its effects by interactions with a number of other regulators of apoptosis.… More details

Western Blot (WB) of anti-MCL1 antibody

Detection of human MCL1 by western blot and immunoprecipitation. Samples: Whole cell lysate (5, 15 and 50 ug for WB; 1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) from HEK293T cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-MCL1 antibody MBS3903069 used for WB at 0.04 ug/ml (A) and 1 ug/ml (B) and used for IP at 3 ug/mg lysate. MCL1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-MCL1 antibody BL9898, which recognizes a downstream epitope. Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure times of 3 minutes (A) and 3 seconds (B).

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-MCL1 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for MCL1

This gene encodes an anti-apoptotic protein, which is a member of the Bcl-2 family. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. The longest gene product (isoform 1) enhances cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis while the alternatively spliced shorter gene products (isoform 2 and isoform 3) promote apoptosis and are death-inducing. UniProt Comments for MCL1

MCL1: a myeloid cell leukemia protein of the Bcl-2 family of proteins. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. The longer gene product (isoform 1) enhances cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis while the alternatively spliced shorter gene product (isoform 2) promotes apoptosis and is death-inducing.
