Immunoprecipitation (IP) of anti-NELFE antibody

Detection of human NELFE by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-NELFE antibody MBS3902346 used for IP at 3 ug/mg lysate. NELFE was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-NELFE antibody MBS3902345, which recognizes an upstream epitope. For blotting immunoprecipitated NELFE, MBS3902346 was used at 1 ug/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

The protein encoded by this gene is part of a complex termed negative elongation factor (NELF) which represses RNA polymerase II transcript elongation. This protein bears similarity to nuclear RNA-binding proteins; however, it has not been demonstrated that this protein binds RNA. The protein contains a tract of alternating basic and acidic residues, largely arginine (R) and aspartic acid (D). The gene localizes to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class III region on chromosome 6. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
