PDCD4 Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS3901627

Programmed cell death 4 (PDCD4) has been identified as a tumor suppressor that is able to inhibit tumor invasion and neoplastic transformation. The tumor suppressor activity of PDCD4 is achieved via its ability to inhibit translation initiation of proteins… More details

Immunoprecipitation (IP)
Application Notes for anti-PDCD4 antibody
IP: 6ug/mg lysate

Immunoprecipitation (IP) of anti-PDCD4 antibody

Detection of human PDCD4 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-PDCD4 antibody MBS3901627 used for IP at 3 ug/mg lysate. PDCD4 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-PDCD4 antibodies BL4710 and MBS3901628, which recognize downstream epitopes. For blotting immunoprecipitated PDCD4, MBS3901628 was used at 1 ug/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

NCBI Summary for PDCD4

This gene is a tumor suppressor and encodes a protein that binds to the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A1 and inhibits its function by preventing RNA binding. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

UniProt Comments for PDCD4

PDCD4: protein localized to the nucleus in proliferating cells that seems to possess a tumor suppressor activity. Directly interacts with the RNA helicase eIF4A and inhibits protein synthesis by interfering with the assembly of the cap-dependent translation initiation complex. Suppresses carbonic anhydrase type II protein expression in carcinoid cell lines. Since tumor cells require a high bicarbonate flux for their growth, carbonic anhydrase suppression results in growth inhibition. Expression of this gene is modulated by cytokines in natural killer and T cells. The gene product is thought to play a role in apoptosis but the specific role has not yet been determined. Two differentially spliced isoforms have been identified.
