Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-PGBD1 antibody
Peptide ELISA (EIA)
Application Notes for anti-PGBD1 antibody
Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 4000.
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave bands at approx 150kDa and 17kDa in lysates of cell lines HeLa, HepG2 and K562 after 0.5ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the bands we observe given the calculated size of 92.5kDa according to NP_115896.1. Both detected bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide (and BLAST results with the immunizing peptide sequence did not identify any other proteins to explain the additional bands).

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-PGBD1 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for PGBD1

The piggyBac family of proteins, found in diverse animals, are transposases related to the transposase of the canonical piggyBac transposon from the moth, Trichoplusia ni. This family also includes genes in several genomes, including human, that appear to have been derived from the piggyBac transposons. This gene belongs to the subfamily of piggyBac transposable element derived (PGBD) genes. The PGBD proteins appear to be novel, with no obvious relationship to other transposases, or other known protein families. This gene product is specifically expressed in the brain, however, its exact function is not known. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
