NCBI Summary for SLA2

This gene encodes a member of the SLAP family of adapter proteins. The encoded protein may play an important receptor-proximal role in downregulating T and B cell-mediated responses and inhibits antigen receptor-induced calcium mobilization. This protein interacts with Cas-Br-M (murine) ecotropic retroviral transforming sequence c. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. UniProt Comments for SLA2

SLAP2: Adapter protein, which negatively regulates T-cell receptor (TCR) signaling. Inhibits T-cell antigen-receptor induced activation of nuclear factor of activated T-cells. May act by linking signaling proteins such as ZAP70 with CBL, leading to a CBL dependent degradation of signaling proteins. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Vesicle; Adaptor/scaffold

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q11.23

Cellular Component: late endosome; cytoplasmic membrane-bound vesicle; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; endosome membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; SH3/SH2 adaptor activity; protein N-terminus binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of calcium-mediated signaling; antigen receptor-mediated signaling pathway; B cell mediated immunity; regulation of immune response; intracellular receptor-mediated signaling pathway; T cell activation; positive regulation of signal transduction; negative regulation of B cell activation; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter
